Delete Your Data
Last updated: 23 July 2026
Doodle Den is in closed testing and this page is a draft, like our Privacy Policy. The deletion process itself is real and every request is honoured โ we may just polish the wording before public launch.
This page is for the Doodle Den app โ listed as "Doodle Den" on Google Play and the App Store, published by CodeCask B.V. It explains how to have the data connected to your child's device deleted from our servers, what gets deleted, and what happens to data even if you never ask.
The short version
- Doodle Den has no accounts โ everything we hold is linked to an anonymous Device ID, not to a name or email.
- Copy the Device ID from the app's About screen and email it to support@doodleden.app. We delete everything linked to that device.
- Deletion covers pictures, share links, history, tokens and identifiers. Two narrow safety records are kept โ explained in section 4.
- Some data deletes itself anyway: share links expire after 90 days, and raw typed prompts live only on short-lived, self-deleting records.
1. How to request deletion
A deletion request takes one email. A parent or carer can send it on a child's behalf โ and since Doodle Den has no accounts, there's nothing to sign in to.
- Open the About screen. In the Doodle Den app, tap the small โ info button at the top of the home screen.
- Copy the Device ID. Under "Your Device ID", tap the copy button next to the code (it looks something like
dev_mdxk2f3a_9b7c2e4d1a6f8e0b). The app confirms with "Device ID copied". - Email it to us. Send the Device ID to support@doodleden.app โ the same address shown on that screen โ and say you'd like that device's data deleted.
๐ Head start: this link opens a pre-addressed email โ just paste your Device ID and send.
The steps are the same on Android and iOS.
We'll confirm by reply once the deletion is complete. We aim to act within a few days, and we will always respond within 30 days. If something doesn't add up โ say, the Device ID doesn't match a device we know โ we'll ask before doing anything, because we want to be sure we delete the right device's data.
2. If you've already uninstalled the app
If Doodle Den was uninstalled, reinstalling it on the same device brings back the same Device ID on the About screen (that's the reinstall recovery described in our Privacy Policy) โ so you can still copy it and email us as above.
If reinstalling isn't possible โ the device is lost, broken, or passed on โ email support@doodleden.app anyway and tell us what you can. Be aware of an honest limit, though: because Doodle Den has no accounts and doesn't know who its users are, we may not be able to find a device's data without its Device ID. What we hold is anonymous either way, and the only public part โ share links โ expires by itself within 90 days.
3. What gets deleted
When we erase a device, a built-in erasure process removes everything linked to that Device ID from our servers:
- Generated colouring images made from that device's requests.
- Shared pages and their images โ any public share preview is unpublished as part of the deletion.
- Generation history (the record of pages the device asked for).
- The device token the app uses instead of a login.
- Rate-limit and usage records kept for fairness and abuse prevention.
- The hashed Android identifier used for reinstall recovery (see our Privacy Policy, section 4).
- Feature-entitlement records (which optional features the device could use).
One thing lives outside our reach in a good way: drawings saved in the app's gallery are stored on the device itself, not on our servers. Uninstalling the app (or clearing its data in your device settings) removes those.
4. What we keep, and why
Two narrow records survive an erasure:
- A block, if the device earned one. If a device was blocked for breaking the sharing rules, the block itself remains โ deleting data isn't a way to undo a block.
- An internal log of the erasure itself. It records that the deletion happened and counts of what was removed โ never pictures, prompts, or any other child content. We keep it as our compliance record, so we can show your request was honoured.
One honest nuance from our Privacy Policy: a colouring page first created on your device may have been re-used from our catalogue and shared by a different family. Re-used pages carry no personal information, and that family's share isn't part of your device's data โ so your request doesn't remove it directly. Every share expires automatically within 90 days, so any such copies disappear on their own.
5. Data that deletes itself anyway
Even if you never send a request, most of what we hold is short-lived:
- Raw typed prompts are never written to long-term logs or permanent records. They live only on a short-lived processing record that expires and deletes itself; what's kept longer is the cleaned-up version with personal details removed (see the Privacy Policy, section 5).
- Shared pages expire on their own after 90 days.
- Hashed reporter IPs (from content reports) are kept only as long as needed to handle abuse.
- The device token and hashed identifiers are kept only while they're needed to enforce safety limits and prevent abuse.
Generated images are the long-lived exception: they're kept so they can be delivered to the device and re-used from our catalogue โ until you ask us to erase the device that made them.
